The Brief

Oakley was looking for some outside help to get “incredibly cool” web experiences out in the world without having to deal with constraining internal processes, and at the time, a difficult content management system. For a two year period we worked with some amazing people to build a multi-site content platform that allowed for multiple product and experiential website launches.

One Icon – Conquering Kona

One Icon is Oakley’s lifestyle editorial publication that brings to life some of the coolest events and adventures on the planet. MJD was challenged with the user experience, creative and development of a site that lives up to the legendary Ironman triathlon. We came up with an idea to design and build the site with an interactive map that plots course highlights, showcases visual imagery and includes narration by three famous Oakley Ironman athletes as you move through the site. The site really pushes the boundaries, much like the race, of what is possible. The desktop version is an immersive guided map tour of the island and course, while the mobile responsive version changes the user interface including optimized mobile images and finger loving navigation.

Oakley Snow

We helped Oakley launch Oakley Snow, showcasing eleven amazing athletes and their beloved Oakley gear. The site features parallax animation, Drupal CMS for easy editing of content, and an immersive design showing customers features and benefits while highlighting Oakley’s unique lifestyle.

Oakley Golf Collection

Oakley hired MJD to build a microsite announcing the addition of Bubba Watson, PGA golfer and Masters Champion to Team Oakley. Shortly after that the MJD Interactive crew was tasked to design and build out a Drupal CMS based platform to launch the new golf, surf, and other upcoming product launches with ease. We drove the golf project 350 yards straight down the center of the fairway, picking up an ADDY award for the work along the way.

As the site scrolled along the race course, new audio would play and image and video assets would be shown.
